CAZENOVIA, N.Y. - Despite jumping out to a 2-0 lead, the Keystone College women's volleyball team dropped a tough 3-2 decision at Cazenovia College on Thursday, as the Wildcats came back in the non-conference match.
The Giants (2-6) will return home to host Centenary University on Saturday, Sept. 17 at 1 p.m. The Wildcats improve to 4-6 and play a tri-match at Skidmore College with Nichols College on Sept. 17.
Keystone won the first two sets, 25-19 and 25-17, before the Wildcats stormed back and won the next two, 25-23 and 25-15. Cazenovia capped off the comeback, taking set five, 15-13.
This was the first five set match for Keystone since Oct. 26, 2019 against Bryn Athyn.
Adrianna Derrick (Oklahoma City, Okla./Putnam City) was one kill away from tying her career high, posting 16 kills on the night. The sophomore hit .213 on 47 attempts and finished with 10 digs and two aces.
Rebecca Jackson (Quakertown, Pa./Salem Christian School) followed with eight kills and four digs while Elise Burk (Paw Paw, Mich./Paw Paw) notched seven kills, six assists and nine digs. Jasmine Adorno (Port Orange, Fla./Atlantic) registered three kills, three solo blocks and four digs.
Hannah Ankerbrand-Ochoa (Germantown, Md./Clarksburg) enjoyed seven aces, nine digs and 16 assists. Karielys Gonzalez Ramirez (Lebanon, Pa./Lebanon) and Kaylee Sargent (Tioga, Pa./Williamson) combined for 24 digs.
For Cazenovia, Karissa Decosse floored a match-high 17 kills.
