KEUKA PARK, N.Y. - The duo of Maria Belen Rodriguez-Molina (Caballito, Buenos Aires, Argentina/Colegio Santa Brígida) and Maria Tomada (Buenos Aires, Argentina/San Vicente de Paul) combined for all the scoring on Friday night as the Keystone College field hockey team opened up the 2022 season with a 4-1 road win at Keuka College.
The Giants (1-0) outshot the Wolves (0-1) 20-15 and avenged last year's 3-0 defeat to Keuka.
Rodriguez-Molina tallied a hat trick in her Keystone debut, notching a goal in just the fifth minute. After Keuka knotted the game at 1-1, Rodriguez-Molina found the back of the cage in the 17th minute to give the Giants a 2-1 lead.
In the 42nd minute, the freshman tallied her third score of the evening while Tomada enjoyed a goal in the 48th minute to round out the scoring. Tomada finished with two assists on the night.
Tomada and Rodriguez-Molina combined for 12 shots (10 on goal) while Vicky Mainero (Francisco Alvarez, Buenos Aires, Argentina/St. Patrick's College) and Miranda Mascia (Blakeslee, Pa./Pocono Mountain West) provided two shots each. Makayla Batts (New Oxford, Pa./New Oxford) delivered three shots off the bench.
Casey Stratton (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) earned the win, making three stops.
For Keuka, the Wolves held a 13-7 edge in penalty corners as Kirsten Billings tallied the lone goal.
