La PLUME, Pa. – The Keystone College football team returns home to host Hobart College in the final non-conference contest of the season, this Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
The Giants (0-3) are coming off a narrow 27-20 defeat at William Paterson. The Statesmen (2-1) defeated St. John Fisher 17-0 last week in Geneva, N.Y.
Scouting the Giants
Keystone enjoyed three first-half touchdowns against the Pioneers, coming on all three facets of the game. Tom Roach (Burlington City, N.J./Burlington City) connected with Richie Crews (Cuddebackville, N.Y./Port Jervis) for a 67-yard score, Donald Leach blocked a punt and returned it to the house 22 yards, and Sean Pettway (Ellenville, N.Y./Ellenville) enjoyed a 45-yard pick-six.
Pettway was named the ECFC Defensive Player of the Week after his performance. The junior notched 10 tackles (8 solo), blocked an extra point, and notched the pick-six.
Kevin Lewis (Philadelphia, Pa./Imhotep Charter) and Damir Green (Philadelphia, Pa./Imhotep) combined for 70 yards on the ground.
Tyshaun McClain (Jersey City, N.J./Hoboken) contributed 10 tackles while Joe Manfredo (Levittown, N.Y./General Douglas MacArthur) and Quentin Tibbs (New Brunswick, N.J./New Brunswick) each tallied eight stops. Carlos Perez (Reading, Pa./Reading) and Elijah Washington (Lawrence, N.Y./Lawrence) enjoyed a sack.
Last year against Hobart, Roach threw for two TDs, connecting with Jorden Cook (New Paltz, N.Y./New Paltz) on a 10-yard score in the fourth quarter.
Scouting the Statesmen
Hobart is averaging 135.3 rushing yards per game and 207.3 yards through the air. Quarterback David Krewson is 31-of-51 with 452 yards passing on the year with five TDs.
Tim Denham, Jr. has 201 rushing yards and two scores. Six different Statesmen have recorded a receiving TD, as Chris Bartosic and Rane Daramola have combined for 14 receptions and 304 yards.
Anthony Romano leads a defensive unit that has allowed just 10.0 ppg and only 131 yards passing per game. Romano has 25 tackles (16 solo) with 2.5 sacks. Peterson Monexant has 21 tackles while four other players come in with double-digit tackles.
Tobias Wefering is 3-of-7 on field goal opportunities, going 2-for-3 from 30-39 yards.
Hobart finished last season 9-2 and defeated Keystone 58-14 back on Sept. 25, 2021. The Statesmen tallied 27 points in the second quarter.
What's Next
The Giants remain in Factoryville to host Gallaudet University on Saturday, Oct. 1 for Homecoming. Kickoff is at 12 p.m. Hobart returns home to host Ithaca College on Oct. 1, also for their homecoming festivities.
