Last Second Goal Downs Giants at Home

LA PLUME, Pa.- The Keystone College men's soccer team suffered a heartbreaking 2-1 loss to DeSales University Wednesday evening at the Keystone College Turf Field. With the loss, the Giants drop their fifth straight match, and fall to 1-5. The Bulldogs improve to 4-2-1.

Daniel Cook (Hamilton Parish, Bermuda/GED Certificate) scored the first goal of the match in the 38th minute to give the Giants a 1-0 lead off a pass from Jacob Gonzalez (Oakland, N.J./St. Benedict's Prep). DeSales tied the game in the 50th minute with a goal from Kevin Krall. With the final seconds ticking away, Owen Maher scored the golden goal with 25 seconds remaining in the match to give the Bulldogs the win. Maher and Sean Buzzee both had an assist in the contest. Graduate student Erick Gomez (New Orleans, La./John Ehret) recorded three saves.3

DeSales outshot Keystone 20-15 with Keystone having seven shots on goal. Axel Gonzalez (Bernardsville, N.J./Bernards) led Keystone in shots with seven. The Bulldogs had the edge on corner kicks, 7-5. Seven yellow cards were issued during the match. A combine 27 fouls were called in the contest.

The Giants will return to action on Saturday, Sept. 24 for an away nonconference match against Wilkes University at 1 p.m.
