Giants Blanked by Colonels, 3-0

WILKES-BARRE, Pa.- The Keystone College men's soccer team fell on the road to Wilkes University 3-0 Saturday afternoon in nonconference play. With the loss, Keystone drops to 1-6 while Wilkes improves to 3-4-1.

Wilkes had three different goal scorers in today's match with all of those goals coming in the first half. Colin Schulmeister tallied his second goal of the season five minutes into the contest. Also scoring for the Colonels were Xavier Guerreiro in the 19th minute, and Will Wagstaff in the 29th minute. Seth Marsteller, Matthew Horwedel, Owen Breisch, Cameron Feister all had one assist on the day. Erick Gomez (New Orleans, La./John Ehret) appeared in goal for the Giants and recorded six saves.

Wilkes dominated on shots and corner kicks this afternoon. The Colonels outshot Keystone 23-6, and had a 13-1 advantage on corner kicks. Axel Gonzalez (Bernardsville, N.J./Bernards) had a game high three shots. Four players between Wilkes and Keystone combine were given yellow cards.

Keystone returns to action on Tuesday, Sept. 27 for an away primetime match against Widener University at 7 p.m. Wilkes will take a short trip to the Electric City to face the University of Scranton on the same day at 7 p.m.
