Men’s Soccer Drops Tight Contest to Widener

CHESTER, Pa.- Daniel Cook (Hamilton Parish, Bermuda/GED Certificate) scored the lone goal for Keystone as they were defeated 2-1 by Widener University Tuesday evening.  With the loss, Keystone drops to 1-7 while Widener improves to 4-4. 

After being held scoreless for most of the match, Cook scored with 38 seconds remaining to give Keystone their lone goal of the game. Axel Gonzalez (Bernardsville, N.J./Bernards) was credited with the assist.  For Widener, Stefano Turano scored in the 20th minute off an assist from Sean Fatiga. Andrew Hurrel scored a PK goal in the 66th minute to give the Pride their second goal of the match. Keystone goalkeeper Erick Gomez (New Orleans, La./John Ehret) made seven saves in goal tonight.  

The Pride held an 18-5 margin on shots with a 7-3 advantage on corner kicks. The Giants tallied three shots on goal in tonight's contest. Cook led Keystone in shots with two while Gonzalez and Leo Arrieta (Miami, Fla./Miami Killian) both had one. Two yellow cards were given during the contest.  

Keystone returns homes this weekend for Homecoming weekend on Saturday, Oct. 1 as they host Cabrini University at 7:30 p.m. Widener opens MAC Commonwealth play on the same as they go up against  York College (PA) at 3 :00 p.m.
