SPRINGFIELD, Ma. – Keystone College women's basketball hit the road on Friday, traveling to Springfield, Massachusetts to participate in Western New England's Basketball Tip Off Tournament.
Taking on the Golden Bears of Western New England University, the Giants fell 90-49 in the first round and will play in the consolation game on Saturday (Nov. 18) against the loser of Vassar College and Salve Regina.
In the loss to Western New England, Riley Berry (Margate, Fla./Piper) put up 19 points while Malaysia Bryant (Harlem, N.Y./Thurgood Marshall) and Anyah Ortiz (Reading, Pa./Governor Mifflin) added 13 points each. Anyah Ortiz (Reading, Pa./Governor Mifflin) and Malaysia Bryant (Harlem, N.Y./Thurgood Marshall) also combined for 9 rebounds during the game.
For the Golden Bears, Shaina Cooney led the team with 18 points, followed by Emma Novajasky with 14. Lilly Hedge and Hannah Blake each had 6 rebounds on the night, which combined accounted for 12 of Western New England's 51 rebounds for the whole game. Western New England will move on to play the Winner of Vassar and Salve Regina
