LA PLUME, Pa.- The Keystone College women's basketball team picked up their first conference win of the season as they defeated the University of Valley Forge Patriots 68-60 Tuesday evening in the Gambal Athletic Center.
With the win, Keystone snaps a five-game losing streak and move to 2-5 (1-2 United East Skye Division). Valley Forge drops to 0-8 (0-4 United East Skye Division).
Anyah Ortiz (Reading, Pa./Governor Mifflin) secured a double-double with 25 points, 12 rebounds, and seven assists. Riley Berry (Margate, Fla./Piper) scored 21 points with six rebounds, five assists, and three steals. Makayla Sigafoos (Tunkhannock, Pa./Tunkhannock Area) recorded her first career double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Valley Forge was led by Mariah Matthews who had 18 points with four assists and three steals. Kaionna Hanna was a rebound away from a double-double as she finished the contest with 17 points and nine rebounds. Lucy Mauerman contributed with 11 points.
Trailing by 10 at halftime, the Giants had a monster second half which was highlighted by a 27-point third quarter. Keystone outrebounded Valley Forge, 55-44. The Giants shot 36 percent from the field.
Keystone heads to The City College of New York on Thursday, Dec. 7 at 6 p.m.
