Softball Falls to McDaniel & Plattsburgh on Monday

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - The Keystone College softball team dropped two games on Monday, falling to McDaniel College 12-0 (5 innings) and SUNY Plattsburgh 9-3.

The Giants (1-2) will face UMass Boston and Mt. St. Vincent on Wednesday, March 15, starting at 1 p.m.

Game One: McDaniel 12, Keystone 0 (5 innings)

The Green Terror scored four runs in the first and six more in the second, outhitting Keystone 13-2 on the day.

Kabrina Birmingham (Burlington, N.J./Burlington City) and Brooke Staple (Carbondale, Pa./Carbondale Area) had base knocks for the Giants.

Amber Stansfield (Levittown, Pa./Conwell-Egan Catholic) and Courtney Cienki (West Milford, N.J./West Milford) pitched, with Cienki tossing five strikeouts.

Game Two: Plattsburgh 9, Keystone 3

The Giants and Cardinals were tied at two after one inning and again tied at three after the third. Plattsburgh notched six runs combined in the fifth and sixth frames.

Keystone finished with nine hits on the night, as Isabella Benitez (East Windsor, N.J./Hightstown) went 2-for-3 with three RBI, including a run scoring double in the third.

Birmingham went 2-for-3 while Staple, Stansfield, Cienki, Elle Olivero (Levittown, Pa./Harry S. Truman), and Clare Johns (Skippack, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) all provided hits.
