MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - The Keystone College softball team was on the losing end of two walk-off endings on Wednesday, falling to UMass Boston and College of Mt. St. Vincent.
The Giants (1-4) conclude their spring break trip tomorrow, playing Concordia (Texas) and Skidmore, starting at 9 a.m. UMass Boston improves to 5-1 while CMSV moves to 6-4.
Game One: UMass Boston 7, Keystone 6
Brooke Staple (Carbondale, Pa./Carbondale Area), Elle Olivero (Levittown, Pa./Harry S. Truman) & Courtney Cienki (West Milford, N.J./West Milford) all finished with two hits. Cienki, Olivero, and Mallory Perkins (Norwalk, OH/Edison) drove in one run each.
Cienki earned the start, tossing six frames with eight punchouts.
Keystone scored four runs in the fifth to take a 6-3 lead but gave up four runs in the last two innings to the Beacons.
Game Two: CMSV 10, Keystone 9 (10 innings)
The nightcap featured 19 runs, 31 hits and seven errors as the Dolphins outlasted the Giants in extras.
Keystone pounded 18 hits, as Isabella Mandarano (Dunmore, Pa./Dunmore) & Angelina Morley (Deposit, N.Y./Deposit) both had three hits. Morley drove in two runs. Kabrina Birmingham (Burlington, N.J./Burlington City), Isabella Benitez (East Windsor, N.J./Hightstown), Mara Brooks (Manassas, Va./Brentsville), and Staple all had two hits each.
Clare Johns (Skippack, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) and Cienki combined for 10 strikeouts in the circle.
