MONTCLAIR, N.J. - The Keystone College baseball team dropped an 18-8 decision at #22 Montclair State in non-conference action on Wednesday at Yogi Berra Stadium.
The Giants (6-9) open up CSAC play this weekend against Clarks Summit on March 31 and April 1. The Red Hawks improve to 13-2 on the season.
Keystone enjoyed a three-run second before allowing four in the bottom half and two more in the third to fall behind, 6-3. The Giants tallied a score in the fourth before Montclair opened up an eight-run sixth, followed by four more runs in the seventh and eighth.
Keystone tallied 11 hits on the day, as Julio Acosta (Elizabeth, N.J./Hudson Catholic) finished 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles. Justin Mann (St. John's, Fla./Bartram Trail) went 2-for-2 with a two-run double in the ninth.
Bobby Pokorney (Margate, Fla./J.P. Taravella) launched a two-run homer in the eighth while Anthony Raimo (Albany, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy) provided an RBI double in the fourth.
Dominic Verrastro (Scott Township, Pa./Lakeland) earned the start with Drew Sorrentino (Schnecksville, Pa./Parkland) relieving him, striking out five in 2.2 innings. Nick Termini (Clarks Summit, Pa./Abington Heights), Julian Gonzalez (Bayonne, N.J./Bayonne) and Kevin Murphy (Montgomery, N.Y./Valley Central) appeared out of the bullpen.
