ROSEMONT, Pa. – The Keystone College softball team earned a split at Rosemont College on Friday evening, defeating the Ravens in game one, 2-1, before dropping game two, 5-0, in the CSAC opener for both squads.
The Giants (2-10, 1-1 CSAC) snapped a nine-game losing skid with the game one win and will be back in action on Wednesday, April 5, traveling to Cedar Crest for 3 p.m. The Ravens move to 6-10 (1-1 CSAC) and play at Wilson on Thursday, April 6.
Game One: Keystone 2, Rosemont 1
The Giants tallied two runs in the top of the fifth.
Brooke Staple (Carbondale, Pa./Carbondale Area) finished with two doubles and two RBI. Alyssa Booth (Holland, Pa./Council Rock North), Isabella Mandarano (Dunmore, Pa./Dunmore) and Kabrina Birmingham (Burlington, N.J./Burlington City) provided hits as Mandarano and Birmingham scored Keystone's runs.
In the circle, Courtney Cienki (West Milford, N.J./West Milford) earned the win as the righty hurled the complete game, allowing just two hits and two walks with nine strikeouts.
Game Two: Rosemont 5, Keystone 0
Keystone tallied five hits in the shutout loss. Mandarano, Staple, Elle Olivero (Levittown, Pa./Harry S. Truman), Jordan Frye (Cheltenham, Pa./St. Hubert Catholic), and Mara Brooks (Manassas, Va./Brentsville) tallied base knocks.
Clare Johns (Skippack, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) suffered the defeat, recording nine flyouts, five groundouts and one strikeout.
