Softball Swept at Cedar Crest on Wednesday

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - The Keystone College softball team dropped a pair of CSAC contests at Cedar Crest College on Wednesday, falling to the Falcons 12-8 in game one, before losing 9-8 in game two on a walk-off.

The Giants (2-12, 1-3 CSAC) will host Valley Forge in their home opener on Tuesday, April 11 at 3 p.m. The Falcons improve to 7-11 (4-0 CSAC).

Game One: Cedar Crest 12, Keystone 8

The opening contest featured 20 runs, 27 hits and nine errors.

Brooke Staple (Carbondale, Pa./Carbondale Area) finished 3-for-5 with two runs scored. Mara Brooks (Manassas, Va./Brentsville) and Elle Olivero (Levittown, Pa./Harry S. Truman) each drove in two runs while Alyssa Booth (Holland, Pa./Council Rock North) and Jordan Frye (Cheltenham, Pa./St. Hubert Catholic) collected two hits.

Clare Johns (Skippack, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) suffered the loss, striking out four with eight flyouts and five groundouts, tossing 120 pitches.

Game Two: Cedar Crest 9, Keystone 8

The Falcons won on a two-run, two-out, bases-loaded walk-off hit in the bottom of the seventh.

The Giants tallied nine hits as Booth, Olivero, and Isabella Benitez (East Windsor, N.J./Hightstown) all had two.

Courtney Cienki (West Milford, N.J./West Milford) struck out five with nine flyouts and six groundouts, tossing 131 pitches in the defeat.
