LA PLUME, Pa.- The Keystone College softball team opened its 2023 home schedule with a CSAC doubleheader sweep over the University of Valley Forge 3-0 and 17-3 Tuesday afternoon.
Keystone jumps to 4-13 (3-3 CSAC). Valley Forge drops to 7-13 (0-5 CSAC).
Game One: Keystone 3, Valley Forge 0
Game one was mainly a pitcher's duel and defensive battle for the Giants as junior Courtney Cienki (West Milford, N.J./West Milford) picked up her second win of the season as she threw a complete game shutout allowing just two hits, nine strikeouts, eight groundouts, and four flyouts. Â
On the hitting side, Cienki and Isabella Mandarano (Dunmore, Pa./Dunmore) both finished with two hits and an RBI. Alyssa Booth (Holland, Pa./Council Rock North) also finished the first game with two hits.
Game Two; Keystone 17, Valley Forge 3 (5 innings)
The bats came alive for Keystone in the second game as they tallied 16 hits and totaled 14 runs in the first two innings of the game. Isabella Benitez (East Windsor, N.J./Hightstown) went 3-for-4 with four RBI while Elle Olivero (Levittown, Pa./Harry S. Truman) went with 3-for-4 with two RBI.
Angelina Morley (Deposit, N.Y./Deposit) and Jordan Frye (Cheltenham, Pa./St. Hubert Catholic) combined for two hits and five RBI. Clare Johns (Skippack, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) got the win tossing five innings with four strikeouts.

Keystone travels to Cairn on Thursday, April 13 before hosting Wilson on April 15. Valley Forge will host Wilson on Thursday, Apr. 13 at 4 p.m.
