LA PLUME, Pa.- The Keystone College men's lacrosse team suffered a narrow 9-8 defeat to Cairn University Wednesday afternoon in the CSAC opener. Keystone drops to 0-8 (0-1 CSAC). Cairn improves to 3-5 (1-0 CSAC).
Anthony Hott (Warminster, Pa./William Tennet) led Keystone with two goals and five assists for seven points. Cody Dembski (Agoura Hills, Calif./Agoura) tallied two goals and ten groundballs while Izaiah Simon (Tunkhannock, Pa./Tunkhannock Area) recorded two goals as well. Sean Ott (Philadelphia, Pa./Franklin Towne) and Tyler McManus (East Meadow, N.Y./East Meadow) each scored a goal, and Ryan Smith (Warrington, Pa./Central Bucks South) dished out two assists.
For Cairn, Jonathan Balasamo led Cairn with five goals, three caused turnovers, and one assist. Nico Cione made 25 saves in goal.
The Giants were down 5-4 at the end of the first half. However, the Highlanders opened the second half with three straight goals. Keystone outscored Cairn 4-1 in the fourth quarter, but unfortunately were unable to come out on top. Keystone had a 53-48 advantage on shots, and a 50-35 margin on groundballs.
Keystone will travel to face CSAC foe Rosemont on Saturday, Apr. 15 at 2 p.m. Cairn will be at Bryn Athyn on the same day at 1 p.m.
