LA PLUME, Pa.- The Keystone College baseball team enjoyed a 6-2 CSAC win over the University of Valley Forge Friday afternoon at Christy Matthewson Field. Keystone moves to 14-10 (7-0 CSAC) while Valley Forge falls to 11-14 (3-7 CSAC).
Bobby Pokorney (Margate, Fla./J.P. Taravella) went for 3-for-5 with one RBI while Greg Verano (Raritan, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) enjoyed a three-hit day. Anthony Raimo (Albany, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy) went 2-for-4 with three RBI which included a monster three run home run to left-center. Giovanni Diaz (Bronx, N.Y./Christopher Columbus) went 1-for-3 with a solo home run.
Jordan Art (Greenfield Township, Pa./Lakeland) earned the start going five innings with six strikeouts. Logan Lixie (Tamarac, Fla./J.P. Taravella) appeared in relief and got the win as he went two innings where he forced four groundouts. Drew Sorrentino (Schnecksville, Pa./Parkland) and Ryan Oka (Auburn, Wash./Jefferson) both had a one inning relief appearance.
Keystone trailed 2-0 until Diaz hit a solo home run to left field to cut the deficit to one. It was not until the seventh inning where the Giants tallied four runs which was highlighted by a three-run home from Raimo. The Giants tallied a run in the eighth inning with a SAC fly from Julio Acosta (Elizabeth, N.J./Hudson Catholic).
Both Keystone and Valley Forge will finish the three-game series on Sunday with a doubleheader at Valley Forge beginning at 12 p.m.
