WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - The Keystone College softball team dropped a pair on non-conference contests at King's College on Monday, falling in game one, 14-7, before losing game two, 4-3, against the Monarchs at Betzler Field.
The Giants now stand at 7-15 overall and will host PSU Schuylkill on Wednesday, April 19. The Monarchs improve to 17-9.
Game One: King's 14, Keystone 7
Brooke Staple (Carbondale, Pa./Carbondale Area) finished 4-for-5 while Isabella Mandarano (Dunmore, Pa./Dunmore) and Jordan Frye (Cheltenham, Pa./St. Hubert Catholic) knocked in two runs each. Elle Olivero (Levittown, Pa./Harry S. Truman) went 2-for-5 with a double.
Clare Johns (Skippack, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) suffered the defeat, striking out one while forcing 10 flyouts and five groundouts on 116 pitches.
Game Two: King's 4, Keystone 3
The Giants outhit the Monarchs 12-10 in the nightcap, as Mara Brooks (Manassas, Va./Brentsville) finished 3-for-3. Frye and Olivero collected two hits apiece.
Courtney Cienki (West Milford, N.J./West Milford) struck out four while forcing seven flyouts with five groundouts on 129 pitches.
