Softball Drops Doubleheader Contest to Penn State Schuylkill

LA PLUME, Pa.- The Keystone College softball team were swept at home to Penn State Schuylkill 9-3 in game one and 7-6 in game two Wednesday afternoon. The Giants drop to 7-17 while the Nittany Lions move to 17-13.

Game One: Penn State Schuylkill 9; Keystone 3

Alyssa Booth (Holland, Pa./Council Rock North), Mara Brooks (Manassas, Va./Brentsville), and Jordan Frye (Cheltenham, Pa./St. Hubert Catholic) all finished with two hits with Brooks tallying an RBI. Courtney Cienki (West Milford, N.J./West Milford) chipped in with a 2 RBI base knock in the first game. Cienki earned the start in the circle going the full seven innings with six strikeouts.

Game Two: Penn State Schuylkill 7; Keystone 6

Brooks kept her strong offensive performance from the first game into game two as she enjoyed two hits and one RBI. Both Angelina Morley (Deposit, N.Y./Deposit) and Kabrina Birmingham (Burlington, N.J./Burlington City) recorded two hits and one RBI.  Booth chipped in with a game high two RBI. Clare Johns (Skippack, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) got the start in the second game where she struck out two on 107 pitches.

What's Next

Keystone will head down 6-11 to face CSAC cross town opponent Clarks Summit University in a conference doubleheader on Saturday, April 22 at 1 p.m.
