WILKES-BARRE, Pa.- The Keystone College women's volleyball team were swept in their season opener to Wilkes University 3-0 (25-20, 25-16, 25-23) Friday evening in the Martz Center.
Keystone falls to 0-1 while Wilkes improves to 1-0.
Sofia Green (Portland, Ore./Mountainside) had nine kills and 11 digs in her first collegiate game. Green and Hailey Herneisey (Middletown, Pa./Middletown Area) combined for 25 digs. Tobi West (Hoopeston, Ill./Hoopeston Area) posted a match high 20 assists. In addition, she had seven digs on the night. Taylor Hallam (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin East) had five kills and four blocks in the loss.
Wilkes was led by Alexis Reedy who had 11 kills, 10 digs, three service aces, and two blocks in the win. Alexa Cassel dished out 28 assists. Hope Ousey and Nicole Fitzpatrick combined for 16 kills.
The Giants will prepare for their home opener next Wednesday, Sept. 6 against Delaware Valley University at 7 p.m. The Colonels will remain home to play Penn State Hazleton on the same day.
