WILKES-BARRE, Pa.- The Keystone College field hockey team defeated King's College 5-0 Sunday afternoon at McCarthy Stadium. With the win, the Giants snap a 12 game losing streak when facing the Monarchs and improve to 2-0. King's remains winless to 0-2.
Miranda Mascia (Blakeslee, Pa./Pocono Mountain West) led the Giants offense with two goals and one assist. Maria Tomada (Buenos Aires, Argentina/San Vicente de Paul), Vicky Mainero (Francisco Alvarez, Buenos Aires, Argentina/St. Patrick's College), and Belen Rodriguez (Caballito, Buenos Aires, Argentina/Colegio Santa Brígida) all chipped in with a goal. Tomada and Angelina Morley (Deposit, N.Y./Deposit) each had an assist.
Defensively, Hannah Osbahr (Old Bridge, N.J./Old Bridge) made two saves in goal and Lucia Cisilino (Tandil, Buenos Aires, Argentina/San Jose) had one defensive save.
The Giants outshot the Monarchs 20-7 and had a 12-7 advantage on penalty corners.
Keystone will open their home schedule on Thursday, Sept. 7 when they host Marywood University at 7 p.m. King's will face the University of Scranton on the road on Sept. 6 at 7 p.m.
