ALLENTOWN, Pa.- The Keystone College women's basketball team dropped a close conference game with Cedar Crest College 59-51 Wednesday evening.
Keystone falls to 5-11 (3-5 United East Skye Division). Cedar Crest moves to 7-6 (6-4 United East Skye Division).
Bry Hicks (Lancaster, Pa./Lancaster Catholic) had a near double-double as she scored 19 points with eight rebounds. Anyah Ortiz (Reading, Pa./Governor Mifflin) finished with 13 points and five steals. Madison Reeves (Somerset, N.J./Immaculata) and Malaysia Bryant (Harlem, N.Y./Thurgood Marshall) combined for 13 points.
Cedar Crest was led by Caylie Long who finished her stellar night with 27 points with five rebounds. She shot 84.6 percent (11-of-13) from the field. Bryanna Rivera recorded 11 points and Jordan McGhee almost had a double-double as she compiled eight points and nine rebounds.
Both teams got off to a slow start as neither team was able to crack double digits at the conclusion of the opening quarter. The Falcons got hot as they outscored the Giants 20-11 in the second quarter.
Coming out of intermission, Keystone made a second half comeback as they poured 19 points in the third to cut their deficit to two. However, Cedar Crest was able to pull away in the end and recorded the United East Skye Division win.
Keystone was 33.3 percent shooting from the field while Cedar Crest was 47.7 percent. The Falcons heavily outrebounded the Giants, 47-28.
Both teams will face each other again at Keystone on Saturday, Jan. 20 at 1 p.m.
