LA PLUME, Pa. – On Wednesday afternoon, the Highlanders from Cairn University traveled to take on the Giants at Keystone College in a women's basketball matchup.
Keystone College walked away with a 66-57 victory over Cairn, moving Keystone's overall record to 5-7 on the season with a 3-2 record in the United East Conference. Cairn's record moves to 7-4 overall and 3-2 in the United East Conference.
The Giants' scoring efforts on Wednesday were led by Malaysia Bryant (Harlem, N.Y./Thurgood Marshall) and Anyah Ortiz (Reading, Pa./Governor Mifflin) who had 21 and 13 points respectively. Each of these girls also added 4 steals, and Anyah Ortiz (Reading, Pa./Governor Mifflin) led the team with 10 total rebounds on the day. Defensively Bry Hicks (Lancaster, Pa./Lancaster Catholic) added in 7 rebounds and 3 steals.
For Cairn, the team was led offensively by Taylor Hinson and Makayla Raines who put up 17 and 15 points respectively. Makayla Raines also led the team with 4 assists. Defensively, Taylor Hinson led the team with 11 defensive rebounds and 3 steals, while Favor Okpali had 7 defensive rebounds and 1 block.
Keystone college will be hitting the road on Saturday (Jan 07) for another conference matchup against the Ravens at Rosemont College. This game will begin at 3:00 PM.
