LA PLUME, Pa. – Keystone women's basketball came up short against Bryn Athyn on Tuesday afternoon. This will move the Giants to 5-8 on the season (3-3 United East), and bump Bryn Athyn up to 8-3 overall (5-1 United East).
Keystone held the game close through the first half, but after only being down by 2 at halftime, the Giants fell 57-52 by the end of the game.
Offensively, Keystone was led by Bry Hicks (Lancaster, Pa./Lancaster Catholic) with 15 points on the night and Anyah Ortiz (Reading, Pa./Governor Mifflin) with 14.
Defensively, Bry Hicks (Lancaster, Pa./Lancaster Catholic) ended the night with 5 steals, 2 blocks, and 3 defensive rebounds. Riley Berry (Margate, Fla./Piper) led the team with 6 defensive rebounds, followed closely by Malaysia Bryant (Harlem, N.Y./Thurgood Marshall) with 5.
For Bryn Athyn, Zhymani Smith led the offense with an impressive 22 points as she also contributed with 4 assists and 9 total rebounds on the night.
Defensive efforts were also led by Zhymani Smith with 3 steals and all 9 rebounds being on defense. Amber Souffrant added 2 steals and 6 defensive rebounds.
Keystone's next game will be on the road on Thursday (Jan 11) as they head to Morristown, NJ to take on Saint Elizabeth University.
