LA PLUME, Pa.- The Keystone College football team suffered a conference setback to Wilkes University 69-24 Saturday afternoon at the Keystone College Turf Field.
Keystone drops to 1-6 (0-4 Landmark) while Wilkes moves to 5-2 (4-0 Landmark).
Donald Leach III (Harrisburg, Pa./Susquehanna Township) threw for 270 yards with two picks. Leach was also the team's leading rusher with 25 yards and one score. Stephen Tatum (Baltimore, Md./Edmundson) recorded a one-yard rushing touchdown. Da'Juan Vales led the receiving core with 126 yards.
Defensively, Devin Montgomery (Waldorf, Md./Potomac) and Nicholas DeFrancesco (Quarryville, Pa./Solanco) both tallied nine total tackles. Montgomery had a tackle for loss.
On the special team's side, Jayson Nami (Freehold Township, N.J./Freehold Township) had six returns for 168 yards which was highlighted by a 90 yards kickoff return touchdown. Jeremiah Ortiz (Scranton, Pa./Scranton) punted seven times for 216 yards and converted a 21-yard field goal.
For the Colonels, Xavier Powell threw for 330 yards and three touchdowns. Running back Elijah Jules also contributed wit three touchdowns of his own as he rushed for 171 yards. Devin Higgins tallied 117 yards with one touchdown.
Angel Ramos led the Wilkes defense with eight total tackles with three of them going for lost as well as half a sack. Jesse Addesso and Donell Mackey-Woodson each had an interception.
The Giants hit the road to face Lycoming College next Saturday, Oct. 26 at 1 p.m.
