Late Goal Downs Field Hockey on the Road

UTICA, N.Y.- The Keystone College field hockey came up short in their road contest as they fell to Utica University 2-1 Wednesday evening.

The Giants fall to 4-5 while the Pioneers earn their first win of the season and move to 1-7.

Vicky Mainero (Francisco Alvarez, Buenos Aires, Argentina/St. Patrick's College) scored the lone goal for Keystone which came around the four-minute mark of the fourth quarter. Goalkeeper Hannah Osbahr (Old Bridge, N.J./Old Bridge) tallied two saves in the cage while Angelina Morley (Deposit, N.Y./Deposit) had a defensive save.

With the game scoreless after the first half, Utica broke through with a goal by Alyssa Pisano with the assisted going to Mackenzie Mix. The Pioneer's Mia Benincasa scored the game winner, a penalty stroke with 32 seconds left to give Utica their first victory.

The Pioneers had the advantage on both shots (12-8) and penalty corners (8-6). Two green cards were given in the nonconference tilt.

The Giants open United East Conference play this weekend on the road at Wilson College. The conference clash is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 5 at 2 p.m.
