Giants Fall to Centenary in Tip-Off Tournament Championship

LA PLUME, Pa.- The Keystone College women's basketball suffered a 62-59 loss in overtime to Centenary University Saturday in the Keystone Tip-Off Tournament Championship Saturday afternoon.

Keystone falls to 3-1 with Centenary improving to 4-0.

Anyah Ortiz (Reading, Pa./Governor Mifflin) led Keystone with 19 points and four rebounds. She was also named to the all-tournament team. Malaysia Bryant (Harlem, N.Y./Thurgood Marshall) recorded a double-double with 15 points and 12 boards. Tamari Hubbard (Bronx, N.Y./Mott Haven) added nine points, seven rebounds, and four steals. Lisa Star (Wanaque, N.J./Lakeland Regional) also had 12 rebounds in the tip-off title game.

Three Cyclones finished in double figures as Vajitah Davis earned Tournament MVP honors as she provided a double-double with 18 points and 15 rebounds. Brie Opdyke finished the game with 16 points, six assists, and five rebounds. Sofia Mendez contributed with 12 points.

The Giants held a 36-25 lead over Centenary in the first half which was highlighted by a 25-8 run in the second quarter. The Cyclones responded in the second half as they outscored the Giants 28-17 to force overtime. In overtime, Centenary had two clutch free throws at the end of that period to seal the tournament title.

Keystone shot approximately 27 percent from the field and about 69 percent from the charity stripe.

The Giants would look to rebound following the loss as they head to Marywood University for their first away contest of the season on Wednesday, Nov. 20 at 7 p.m.
