Field Hockey Upsets Wilson to Advance to United East Title Game

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa.- The No. 3 seed Keystone College field hockey team punched their ticket to the 2024 United East Conference Finals as they defeated the No. 2 seed Wilson College 5-3 Saturday afternoon in the conference semifinals.

Keystone moves to 9-7 and will face top seed St. Mary's College of Maryland in the championship next Saturday, Nov. 9. Wilson finishes the season with an 11-4 record.

This marks the third consecutive conference championship appearance for Keystone and second as members of the United East Conference.

Belen Rodriguez (Caballito, Buenos Aires, Argentina/Colegio Santa Brígida) and Vicky Mainero (Francisco Alvarez, Buenos Aires, Argentina/St. Patrick's College) both scored two goals while Breanna Landers (Matawan, N.J./Matawan Regional) chipped in with one. Deanna Cole (Franklinville, N.J./Delsea Regional), Phaedra Day (Newark Valley, N.Y./Newark Valley), and Jordan Vandermark (Hackettstown, N.J./Hackettstown) added one assist each. Hannah Osbahr (Old Bridge, N.J./Old Bridge) made six saves in the win.

Wilson had three different goal scorers as Danica Frushour, Paige Ney, and Hannah Aker found the back of the cage for the Phoenix. Breal Kelso chipped in with two assists. Goalkeeper Erin Sullivan also had six saves.

Keystone tallied 18 shots with 11 of them being on goal. Wilson had the edge on penalty corners, 12-9. Three green cards and one yellow card were given in the semifinal match.
