Giants Rally to Defeat Eagles in First Round of Playoffs

LA PLUME, Pa.- The No. 8 seed Keystone College women's volleyball team rallied as they took down No. 9 seed St. Elizabeth University 3-1 Wednesday evening in the first round of the United East Conference Tournament.

The Giants dropped the second set 25-20, but won the first, third and fourth sets by scores of 25-16, 25-16, and 25-18.

Keystone improves to 20-6 and will head to Washington, DC to face top seed and defending United East Champions Gallaudet University on Saturday. St. Elizabeth ends their season at 11-14.

Four Giants finished in double digits for kills as Elise Burk (Paw Paw, Mich./Paw Paw) led the team with 13 kills. She also had 23 assists and eight digs. Sofia Green (Portland, Ore./Mountainside) added 11 kills while Kaliyah Brown (Maricopa, Ariz./Sequoia Pathway Academy) and Taylor Hallam (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin East) both had 10. Hallam had four block assists and two service aces. Tobi West (Hoopeston, Ill./Hoopeston Area) chipped in with 19 assists.

Catie Woolf (Fremont, Ohio/Saint Joseph Central Catholic) posted a match high 17 digs along with three service aces. Hailey Herneisey (Middletown, Pa./Middletown Area) and Bella Brienza (Fredericksburg, Va./Stafford) combined for 30 digs.

For the Eagles, Sienna Volpe had eight kills as well as six digs. Kristina Ashton and Erica Menaling Trajano added 13 and 11 kills, respectively. Alyssa Wells recorded 15 digs.
