Field Hockey to Take on St. Mary’s in United East Conference Finals

ST. MARY'S CITY, Md.- The No. 3 seed Keystone College field hockey team is looking to repeat as United East Conference Champions as they head to Maryland to take on top seed St. Mary's College of Maryland in the United East Conference Championship on Saturday, Nov. 9 at 1 p.m.

The Keystone College Giants are looking to win their third conference championship in program history and second as members of the United East. They enter the conference finals with a 9-7 record and went 3-2 in conference play. The team held on to a 5-3 victory over Wilson College in the conference semifinals.

Vicky Mainero (Francisco Alvarez, Buenos Aires, Argentina/St. Patrick's College) and Belen Rodriguez (Caballito, Buenos Aires, Argentina/Colegio Santa Brígida) led the way with two goals while Breanna Landers (Matawan, N.J./Matawan Regional) added one. Deanna Cole (Franklinville, N.J./Delsea Regional), Phaedra Day (Newark Valley, N.Y./Newark Valley), and Jordan Vandermark (Hackettstown, N.J./Hackettstown) all had one assist. Fifth-year goalkeeper Hannah Osbahr (Old Bridge, N.J./Old Bridge) made six saves in the win.

Keystone tallied 18 shots with 11 of them being on goal. Wilson had the edge on penalty corners, 12-9.

St. Mary's College of Maryland

The St. Mary's College of Maryland Seahawks hope to capture its second consecutive conference championship. Last season, the Seahawks defeated Marywood University 1-0 in the Atlantic East Conference Finals.

The squad went undefeated in conference play during the regular season and currently hold an overall record of 9-10. They defeated fourth seed Penn State Harrisburg 2-0 in the semifinals on Saturday. Brenna Ziegler and Josie Shermeyer scored for the Seahawks with Briana Allen getting an assist.

St. Mary's posted a 27-2 margin on shots with 18 of them on goal. They collected 10 penalty corners in that contest.

Previous Matchup

Both teams previously played on Oct. 19 where the Seahawks came away with a 3-0 win. The team had three different goal scorers as Jena Vanskiver, Alyssa Riggleman, and Emma Watkins found the back of the cage. Ziegler and Anna Eaton contributed with an assist.
