LA PLUME, Pa.- The Keystone College women's basketball team opened the 2024-2025 season in style as they defeated SUNY Old Westbury 89-44 Friday evening in the Gambal Athletic Center.
Keystone moves to 1-0 while Old Westbury drops to 0-1.
Five Giants finished in double figures as Anyah Ortiz (Reading, Pa./Governor Mifflin) with 13 points and seven rebounds. Bry Hicks (Lancaster, Pa./Lancaster Catholic) added 12 points with seven boards. Tamari Hubbard (Bronx, N.Y./Mott Haven), Lisa Star (Wanaque, N.J./Lakeland Regional), and Kamryn Alers (Scranton, Pa./Scranton) scored 10 points. The three combined for 17 rebounds and eight assists.
The Panthers were led by Jailah Pineda who tallied 16 points and four assists. Maya Kama contributed with 11 points and four rebounds. Rianelly Estrella almost recorded a double-double as she had eight points and nine rebounds.
The Giants shot close to 39 percent from the field and 62 percent from the free throw line. They held a large margin on rebounds, 68-30.
Keystone will remain at home as they host Penn State Wilkes-Barre on Tuesday, Nov. 12 at 6 p.m.
