MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.- The Keystone College softball team picked up a victory as they defeated Mount Aloysius 2-1 but suffered an 8-0 loss to The College of New Jersey in the second game Wednesday afternoon in the team's Spring Break trip in Myrtle Beach.
Keystone is now 2-4 on the year.
Game One: Keystone 2, Mount Aloysius: 1
The first game of today's doubleheader was primarily a pitching battle between both teams. Clare Johns (Skippack, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) picked up her first win of the season as she went 5.2 innings and allowed one earned run with three strikeouts. Courtney Cienki (West Milford, N.J./West Milford) came in relief and struck out two. The senior pitcher picked up her first save of the season.
Offensively, Isabella Mandarano (Dunmore, Pa./Dunmore) provided an RBI single in the third inning. Angelina Morley (Deposit, N.Y./Deposit) provided an RBI SAC bunt. Kabrina Birmingham (Burlington, N.J./Burlington City), Hanaje Riley (Allentown, Pa./William Allen), and Emily Schultz (Tunkhannock, Pa./Tunkhannock Area) tallied base hits.
Game Two: Keystone 0, The College of New Jersey 8 (6 inn.)
The Giants offense was quiet in game two as they were limited to two hits in the contest. Brooke Staple (Carbondale, Pa./Carbondale Area) and Christina Carreon (Clifton, Va./Centreville) recorded the lone hits for Keystone.
Cienki got the start in game two and went 5.2 innings with one strikeout. Grace Lorah (Clarks Summit, Pa./Abington Heights) made an appearance in the circle.

Keystone concludes their Spring Break trip tomorrow as they face FDU-Florham at 11 a.m. followed by a matchup with SUNY Morrisville at 5 p.m.
