Softball Suffers Two Defeats in Spring Break Finale

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.- The Keystone College softball team suffered two losses in their final games of spring break as they fell to FDU-Florham 10-3 and SUNY Morrisville 8-5 Thursday afternoon.

Keystone now goes to 2-6.

Game One: FDU Florham 10, Keystone 3

Isabella Mandarano (Dunmore, Pa./Dunmore) went 2-for-3 and recorded a walk in the contest. Isabella Benitez (East Windsor, N.J./Hightstown) and Angelina Morley (Deposit, N.Y./Deposit) both had RBI singles. Hanaje Riley (Allentown, Pa./William Allen) contributed with an RBI.

Courtney Cienki (West Milford, N.J./West Milford) earned the start and went five innings with three strikeouts. Clare Johns (Skippack, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) pitched two innings in relief and recorded a strikeout. The sophomore gave up one earned run off two hits.

Game Two: SUNY Morrisville, Keystone 5

Christina Carreon (Clifton, Va./Centreville) went 2-for-5 with both hits being singles. Kabrina Birmingham (Burlington, N.J./Burlington City) tallied a two-RBI double in the first inning. Brook Staple had a two-RBI single as well.

Grace Lorah (Clarks Summit, Pa./Abington Heights) was the starting pitcher and went 1.2 innings where she allowed two hits, three runs (one earned), and struck out one. Johns and Cienki appeared in the circle for the Giants.

Keystone was up 5-0 after 1.5 innings of play. The Mustangs mounted a comeback and scored eight unanswered runs which was highlighted by a four run fifth inning to get the victory.

What's Next

Keystone will return to Northeastern Pennsylvania following their Spring Break trip and will gear up for a United East Divisional doubleheader against Penn State Harrisburg on Saturday, Mar. 23 with first pitch scheduled for 2 p.m.
