LA PLUME, Pa.- The Keystone College baseball team completed their three-game sweep of Cairn University as they took the doubleheader 4-1 and 7-1 Monday afternoon in the team's home opener.
Keystone improves to 11-5 (3-0 United East Skye Division). Cairn falls to 7-9 (3-3 United East Skye Division).
Game One: Keystone 4, Cairn 1
Justin Mann (St. John's, Fla./Bartram Trail) racked up two hits for the Giants. Robert Estrada (Maracay, Venezuela/Ferris) collected a hit with two RBI. Andy Rivas (Bronx, N.Y./Academy for Language and Technology) and Bobby Pokorney (Margate, Fla./J.P. Taravella) contributed with an RBI base knock.
Kyle Caringi (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport Area) picked up his first win on the mound as he went six innings allowing just five hits, one earned run, and eight strikeouts. Nick Gravel (Sidney, N.Y./Sidney) got his second save of the season as he pitched a scoreless seventh inning and recorded a strikeout.
Cairn got on the board first with an RBI base hit. Keystone answered back with one of their own in the bottom the fourth. The squad would then score three unanswered runs to complete the comeback and secure the first win of the doubleheader.
Game Two: Keystone 7, Cairn 1
Cooper Fesh (Bethel, Conn./Bethel) went 2-for-3 with three RBI. Jacob Yager (Grahamsville, N.Y./Tri-Valley) added two hits and brought a runner home. Nate Ewing (Jersey Shore, Pa./Jersey Shore Area) logged his first home run of the 2024 campaign. Estrada and Greg Verano (Raritan, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) both had an RBI double.
Aidan Pawlak (Brooklyn, N.Y./Millennium Brooklyn) earned the start and win as he went five innings with only giving up three hits. The sophomore southpaw struck out nine. Drew Sorrentino (Schnecksville, Pa./Parkland), Anthony Mierez (Granby, Conn./Rockville), and Justice Ramirez (North Bergen, N.J./North Bergen) appeared in relief.
