LA PLUME, Pa.- The Keystone College baseball won a thriller at Christy Mathewson Field with a 9-8 victory against William Paterson University Wednesday afternoon.
Keystone moves to 12-5. William Paterson falls to 5-12.
Justin Mann (St. John's, Fla./Bartram Trail) went 3-for-3 with three RBI. Darren Hagan (Aston, Pa./Garnet Valley) went 2-for-4 with one RBI. Cooper Fesh (Bethel, Conn./Bethel) tallied two base hits.
Cam Hale (Covington, Wash./Kentridge) got the start and went four innings where he allowed one earned run and struck out five batters. Will Rodriguez (Deland, Fla./Deland), Matthew McElligott (Columbus, OH/Bishop Hartley), Julian Gonzalez (Bayonne, N.J./Bayonne), and Dylan Byler (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) appeared in relief. Byler earned his first win of the season as he pitched the last two innings of the contest. The junior struck out three batters and gave up one hit.
The Giants got off to a hot start as they scored four runs through the first three innings. The Pioneers answered back in a huge way as they combined for seven runs through the fourth and fifth inning. Keystone cut into their deficit as they tallied a run in the fifth and sixth inning.
William Paterson responded with a solo home run in the top of the seventh. The eighth inning is where the game went in Keystone's favor. Robert Estrada (Maracay, Venezuela/Ferris) delivered the game tying two-RBI single. Later in that inning, Mann would score off a wild pitch to seal the game.
Keystone remains home as they face Clarks Summit University in United East Skye Division play tomorrow afternoon at 3:00 p.m.
