Baseball Sweeps Valley Forge at Home

LA PLUME, Pa.- The Keystone took both games of their doubleheader as they defeated the University of Valley Forge 21-13 and 12-0 Friday afternoon at Christy Mathewson Field.

Keystone improves to 16-5 (6-0 United East Skye Division). Valley Forge falls to 5-16 (0-6 United East Skye Division).

Game One: Keystone 21, Valley Forge 13

Chase Boyle (Millsboro, Del./Sussex Central) went 5-for-5 with five RBI. The junior infielder crushed a two-run home run in the fourth inning. Jacob Yager (Grahamsville, N.Y./Tri-Valley) went 3-for-4 with four RBI. Darren Hagan (Aston, Pa./Garnet Valley) went 2-for-4 with a solo home run.

Brayan Villar (West Orange, N.J./Belleville) got the start and win as he went 4.2 innings with four strikeouts. Fisher Sheffield (Kissimmee, Fla./Tohopekaliga), Julian Gonzalez (Bayonne, N.J./Bayonne), and Dylan Byler (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) appeared in relief. Byler struck out four batters in his outing.

Game Two: Keystone 12, Valley Forge 0 (7 inn.)

Hagan went 3-for-4 with one RBI. Yager went 2-for-3 with five RBI as he had three run home run and two RBI-double. Hunter Rauch (Lincoln, Del./Cape Henlopen) went 3-for-3 with three runs scored. Griffin Yastremski (Bath, N.Y./Haverling) recorded two hits which was highlighted by a two-run.

Justice Ramirez (North Bergen, N.J./North Bergen) was solid on the mound as he went five innings and allowed one hit, no earned runs with five strikeouts. Nick Gravel (Sidney, N.Y./Sidney) pitched the last two innings of the second game and had five strikeouts as well.

What's Next

The Giants conclude their series with Clarks Summit University with a doubleheader on Tuesday, Apr. 2 beginning at 12 p.m. The game will be played at Schautz Stadium in Dunmore, Pa.
