DUNMORE, Pa. – Keystone baseball took both games in a double-header against Clarks Summit University on Wednesday afternoon. These wins move the Giants to 19-8 on the season and 9-0 in Conference play.
Game 1
Despite a slow start in game one, Keystone broke this game open in the fourth inning bringing home six runs to turn their 4-2 deficit into an 8-4 lead. This game ended in a 10-7 victory for Keystone.
Nate Ewing (Jersey Shore, Pa./Jersey Shore Area) had three RBI is game one with two of them coming off of a double hit in the fourth inning. Robert Estrada (Maracay, Venezuela/Ferris) also went two for three at the plate in game one and contributed two RBI, while Cooper Fesh (Bethel, Conn./Bethel) went two for four and added two more RBI.
Cam Hale (Covington, Wash./Kentridge) started game one and struck out six batters in 4.1 innings pitched. Hale also gave up nine hits and six earned runs during his outing. Ryan Oka (Auburn, Wash./Jefferson) came in for relief and put up three strikeouts in 1.2 innings.
Game 2
The bats came alive for the Giants in game two as they took this victory with a final score of 24-8.
Andy Rivas (Bronx, N.Y./Academy for Language and Technology) led the way offensively with six RBI off of four hits, two of which were for extra bases. Greg Verano (Raritan, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) put up 4 RBI and David Curreri (Beach Lake, Pa./Honesdale) and Bobby Pokorney (Margate, Fla./J.P. Taravella) each saw three RBI in this offensive showcase.
Nick Termini (Clarks Summit, Pa./Abington Heights) got the start for game two and struck out three batters in 3.0 innings pitched. Brandon Valles (Toms River, N.J./Toms River North) came in to relieve Termini and also struck out three batters after facing 12 batters in 2.2 innings.
What's Next
Keystone will be on the road to Chambersburg, PA on Friday afternoon for their first matchup of the season against Wilson College. This will be a single game starting at 3:00 P.M.
