CLARKS SUMMIT, Pa.- The Keystone College softball team split their United East Conference doubleheader against Clarks Summit Thursday afternoon.
Keystone took a tight game one 3-2 but fell 9-2 in the second game. Following the split doubleheader, the Giants are now 8-12 (6-4 United East Skye Division). The Defenders move to 14-14-1 (4-6 United East Skye Division).
Game One: Clarks Summit 2, Keystone 3
On offense, Karina Jennings (Milltown, N.J./Spotswood) recorded two hits which was highlighted by a solo home run, the first of her career. Elle Olivero (Levittown, Pa./Harry S. Truman) also added two hits on three plate appearances. Brooke Staple (Carbondale, Pa./Carbondale Area) and Natalie Donovan (Owego, N.Y./Owego Free Academy) each posted a hit with an RBI. Angelina Morley (Deposit, N.Y./Deposit) recorded a hit in two at bats.
Courtney Cienki (West Milford, N.J./West Milford) started game one and pitched a complete seven innings where she recorded five strikeouts and only surrendered two earned runs.
Game Two: Clarks Summit 9, Keystone 2
Jennings tallied a two RBI double for Keystone's lone runs in game two. Isabella Mandarano (Dunmore, Pa./Dunmore) and Isabella Benitez (East Windsor, N.J./Hightstown) each went 1-for-3 at the plate. Christina Carreon (Clifton, Va./Centreville)) and Mara Brooks (Manassas, Va./Brentsville) recorded a hit as well.
Clare Johns (Skippack, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) notched the start in game two as she recorded four strikeouts in six and a third innings. Grace Lorah (Clarks Summit, Pa./Abington Heights) appeared in the circle as well, recording a strikeout.
