SOUTH ABINGTON TOWNSHIP, Pa.- The Keystone College softball team picked up two conference wins this afternoon as they defeated Cairn University 9-0 and 9-7 Saturday afternoon.
Keystone moves to 10-12 (8-4 United East). Cairn drops to 6-24 (4-9 United East).
Prior to the start of today's doubleheader, the team honored seniors Elle Olivero (Levittown, Pa./Harry S. Truman), Brooke Staple (Carbondale, Pa./Carbondale Area), Courtney Cienki (West Milford, N.J./West Milford), and Kabrina Birmingham (Burlington, N.J./Burlington City) in a pregame senior day ceremony.
Game One: Keystone 9, Cairn 0 (6 inn.)
Emily Schultz (Tunkhannock, Pa./Tunkhannock Area) and Karina Jennings (Milltown, N.J./Spotswood) both picked up two hits and one RBI. Hanaje Riley (Allentown, Pa./William Allen) recorded a three-run home run in the sixth inning.
Cienki got the start in game one as she went the entire six innings and allowed only two hits with seven strikeouts.
The Giants were held scoreless in the first three innings before pouring five runs in the fourth and four in the sixth to lead to the eight-run mercy rule.
Game Two: Keystone 9, Cairn 7
Schultz went 3-for-3 with three RBI. Birmingham went 2-for-2 with two RBI which was highlighted by an inside the park home run. Jennings had two RBI in game two as well.
Grace Lorah (Clarks Summit, Pa./Abington Heights) picked up her first career win in the circle as she pitched 5.1 innings with seven strikeouts. Clare Johns (Skippack, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) got the save as she tossed 1.2 innings with three strikeouts.
