Softball Grabs a Win at Wilson

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa.- The Keystone College softball team picked up a doubleheader conference split at Wilson College as they came from behind to win the first game 7-6 but suffered a 7-4 defeat in game two.

Keystone moves to 11-13 (9-5 United East Skye Division). Wilson goes to 20-9 (10-2 United East Skye Division).

Game One: Keystone 7, Wilson 6

Hanaje Riley (Allentown, Pa./William Allen) went 3-for-4 with one RBI. Angelina Morley (Deposit, N.Y./Deposit) went 2-for-4 with two RBI. Elle Olivero (Levittown, Pa./Harry S. Truman) tallied two hits with an RBI. Isabella Mandarano (Dunmore, Pa./Dunmore) recorded a two RBI double.

Courtney Cienki (West Milford, N.J./West Milford) pitched in game one as she went the whole seven innings with seven strikeouts.

The Phoenix got hot early as they had a 3-0 lead at the conclusion of the first inning. Both teams scored one run in the third. The sixth inning is when the game went into Keystone's favor as they six to take a 7-4 lead.

Wilson answered with two runs of their own in the bottom half of that inning, but they were unable to regain the lead as the Giants took game one.

Game Two: Wilson 7, Keystone 4

A seven run second inning propelled Wilson to the game two victory. Karina Jennings (Milltown, N.J./Spotswood) went 3 for-4 at the plate. Riley picked up right where she left off the as she picked up two hits with one RBI. Brooke Staple (Carbondale, Pa./Carbondale Area) and Kabrina Birmingham (Burlington, N.J./Burlington City) also had two hits in the second game. Staple finished with three runs batted in.

Clare Johns (Skippack, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) got the starting nod and took the loss as she gave up seven earned runs and struck out three batters.

What's Next

Keystone heads to Marywood University on Thursday, Apr. 25 for a nonconference doubleheader with the Pacers starting at 3 p.m.
