Wallace’s Six Goals Leads Keystone Over Cairn

LANGHORNE, Pa.- The Keystone College men's lacrosse team secured their second conference win of the season as they defeated Cairn University 12-11 Saturday evening.

Keystone moves to 5-7 (2-0 United East). Cairn falls to 2-8 (0-3 United East).

Cam Wallace (Okotoks, Alberta, Canada/Foothills Composite) scored six goals and added one assist for seven points. Ryan Smith (Warrington, Pa./Central Bucks South) added four goals, three assists, and five groundballs. Abe Wallace (Okotoks, Alberta, Canada/Foothills Composite) and Austin Griffiths (Ponoka, Alberta, Canada/Ponoka Secondary Campus) both scored once. Wallace and Wilson Ingalls (Okotoks, Alberta, Canada/Holy Trinity Academy) each had two assists. Chris Armas (Vancouver, Wash./Mountain View) and Cody Dembski (Agoura Hills, Calif./Agoura) combined for 20 faceoff wins. Edwin Himmel-Maines (Fawn Grove, Pa./Kennard-Dale) made a dozen saves in between the pipes.

Cairn was led by Jonathan Balsamo and Cole Heffler who both recorded four goals and two assists. Jason Briant notched two goals while Ole Pertet Nyilinkindi scored once.

The Giants held a 6-3 lead following the conclusion of the first quarter. Cairn went on a 5-0 run in the second quarter to take an 8-2 lead at intermission. Keystone would get back on track as they outscored the Highlanders 6-3 in the second half, which was highlighted by five goals in the third quarter.

Keystone outshot Cairn, 50-40 and held a 52-25 margin on ground balls.

The Giants will host Rosemont College on Senior Day next Saturday, Apr. 13 at 1 p.m.
