CAMDEN, N.J.- The Keystone College baseball team snapped their three-game losing streak as they knocked off Rutgers-Camden in a high scoring affair 18-13 Tuesday evening.
Keystone moves to 17-8, and Rutgers-Camden falls to 18-7.
Robert Estrada (Maracay, Venezuela/Ferris) and Bobby Pokorney (Margate, Fla./J.P. Taravella) both had two hits on the night for three RBI. Nate Ewing (Jersey Shore, Pa./Jersey Shore Area) went 3-for-5 with two RBI. Griffin Yastremski (Bath, N.Y./Haverling) and Andy Rivas (Bronx, N.Y./Academy for Language and Technology) had two-run home runs in tonight's contest. David Curreri (Beach Lake, Pa./Honesdale) and Darren Hagan (Aston, Pa./Garnet Valley) also recorded two RBI.
Slothing Che (Santo Domingo, D.R./Instituto Tecnologico Fabio Amable Mota) got the starting nod as he allowed four earned runs in two innings of work. The junior right-hander notched two strikeouts and walked five batters. Drew Sorrentino (Schnecksville, Pa./Parkland) pitched the next three innings in relief as he gave up five earned runs off five hits with six strikeouts. Anthony Mierez (Granby, Conn./Rockville) and Julian Gonzalez (Bayonne, N.J./Bayonne) also pitched in the contest. Gonzalez grabbed his first win of the season as he pitched four innings and fanned one batter.
After the Scarlet Raptors scored two runs in the first inning, the Giants responded in a big way as they tallied 15 runs in the next four innings of play. Rutgers-Camden was able to cut into Keystone's lead as they were able to pour in some runs throughout the primetime showdown. However, the Giants offense was too strong, and they ultimately came away with the victory.
Keystone wraps up their conference series at Clarks Summit University tomorrow afternoon with a doubleheader beginning at 12 p.m.
