DALLAS, Pa.- The Keystone College baseball team opened the Dallas Regional with a 10-5 win over Middlebury College Friday afternoon at Misericordia University.
With the win, Keystone moves to 34-11. Middlebury will drop to 30-12.
Nate Ewing (Jersey Shore, Pa./Jersey Shore Area) went 5-for-5 with an RBI. Justin Mann (St. John's, Fla./Bartram Trail) tallied three hits with three runs batted in. Robert Estrada (Maracay, Venezuela/Ferris) and Jacob Yager (Grahamsville, N.Y./Tri-Valley) each had two hits.
Brayan Villar (West Orange, N.J./Belleville) was the starting pitcher in the first game and went seven innings with four punch outs. Dylan Byler (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) and Drew Sorrentino (Schnecksville, Pa./Parkland) each pitched an inning in relief.
The Panthers got on the board first with an RBI single. The Giants were scoreless until the fourth inning when they tacked on two runs followed by one run in the fifth. In the eighth inning, Keystone put up five runs to extend their lead, 8-1.
Middlebury would cut into their deficit with a three-run home run. Keystone would capitalizee in the top of the nineth with a two-RBI double by Mann. The Panthers threatened with the bases loaded, but they grounded into a double play to end the game.
Keystone will face Misericordia University in a winner's bracket game tomorrow afternoon at 12 p.m.
