LA PLUME, Pa. – Keystone women's volleyball opened their season at home with a 3-2 win over Wilkes University. Keystone started out strong, winning the first set 25-19, and then won the third set 25-20. Wilkes took sets two and four with scores of 25-23 and 25-18. Finally, Keystone pulled ahead as it came down to a 14-14 tie in the fifth set, with Keystone eventually winning 16-14.
Taylor Hallam (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin East) led the way for the Giants with 11 kills and three blocks during the match. Adrianna Derrick (Oklahoma City, Okla./Putnam City) and Sofia Green (Portland, Ore./Mountainside) each followed closely behind with 10 kills and nine kills respectively. Defensively, Catie Woolf (Fremont, Ohio/Saint Joseph Central Catholic) started her career at Keystone with an impressive 30 digs in the match.
Wilkes University's efforts were led by Sierra Hines with nine kills, two solo blocks, and three block assists. Defensively, Kendra Kalp put up 14 digs followed closely by Emma Sanford with 13.
Keystone women's volleyball will be back home on Saturday morning to kick off a tri-match as they take on Rutgers-Newark University at 11:00 AM. Then the Giants will have a break as Rutgers-Newark plays Goucher College at 1:00 PM, and finally Keystone will face Goucher with a game scheduled for 3:00 PM.
