Football Rolls Past Hartwick in Home Opener

LA PLUME, Pa.- The Keystone College football team picked up their first win of the 2024 season as they defeated Hartwick College in their home opener 51-26 Saturday afternoon at the Keystone College Turf Field. 

Keystone moves to 1-1 with Hartwick dropping to 1-1.

Mujaheed Muhammad (Philadelphia, Pa./Paul Robeson) had a career day on the ground as he rushed for 186 yards on 17 carries with three touchdowns. He also had 56 receiving yards with one score. Donald Leach III (Harrisburg, Pa./Susquehanna Township) passed for 356 yards with two touchdowns. In addition, he also had a rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter. Jayson Nami (Freehold Township, N.J./Freehold Township) had 115 yards receiving yards with one touchdown. Jorden Cook (New Paltz, N.Y./New Paltz) had 76 receiving yards on the day. 

Defensively, CJ Riccobono (New Hyde Park, N.Y./New Hyde Park Memorial) had two interceptions and two pass break ups. Tyler Malanga (Monroe, N.J./Monroe Twp.) finished with seven total tackles as well as a sack. Devin Montgomery (Waldorf, Md./Potomac) had two sacks this afternoon. Quentin Tibbs (New Brunswick, N.J./New Brunswick) forced a fumble with Ethan Mejia (Hackensack, N.J./Hackensack) recovering it. Jeremiah Ortiz (Scranton, Pa./Scranton) went 6-for-6 PAT's and made a 39-yard field goal. 

For the visiting Hawks, quarterback Dennis Riordan passed for 294 yards with one touchdown and a pick. Wide receiver Conor Cosgrove possessed a 162 receiving yards with one score. Hartwick's defense was led by Marquis Jones-McKinney and Michael Vurchio combined for 12 total tackles. 

The Giants will hit the road to face St. John Fisher University next Saturday, Sept. 21 at 12 p.m.
