Giants Football Suffers Tough Loss to St. John Fisher

PITTSFORD, N.Y. – After a hot start on the road on Saturday afternoon, Keystone College football fell to St. John Fisher university with a final score of 42-40 in a battle until the very end. This loss moves the Giants to 1-2 on the season as St. John Fisher improves to 1-1

The Giants took an early 13-0 lead over the Cardinals in the first quarter after Donald Leach III (Harrisburg, Pa./Susquehanna Township) connected with Jayson Nami (Freehold Township, N.J./Freehold Township) on a 58-yard touchdown pass, and Mujaheed Muhammad (Philadelphia, Pa./Paul Robeson) scored on a 20-yard run. The Cardinals answered back with two touchdowns of their own in the second quarter, and then Keystone answered again with two more touchdown passes; a 9-yard reception to Jayson Nami (Freehold Township, N.J./Freehold Township) and a 23-yard reception to Jordan Cook. This left the Giants with a 27-14 lead at the half.

In the second half, St. John Fisher battled their way back to a 35-27 lead after three unanswered touchdowns. Muhammad brought the Giants back within two points after an impressive 62-yard run, but then the Cardinals struck again before finally winning the game 42-40.

Overall, for Keystone, Leach saw 14 completions in 30 attempts on Saturday afternoon. He picked up 259 yards, four touchdowns, and gave up two interceptions in the game against St. John Fisher. Muhammad netted 188 yards on the ground with two touchdowns, and Nami led the team in receiving yards with 133 yards and three touchdowns on six receptions.

For St. John Fisher, Ryan Whitney had 16 completions in 26 attempts, picking up 339 yards, two touchdowns, and he gave up two interceptions as well. Peyton Nolan netted 148 yards and picked up one touchdown in 21 attempts on the ground. Camden Chance netted 95 yards in ten attempts but picked up two touchdowns along the way for the Cardinals.

The Giants will be back home next week to take on Hobart College at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 28.
