Men’s Soccer Edged by St. Mary’s College of Maryland

LA PLUME, Pa.- The Keystone College men's soccer team suffered a narrow 3–1 defeat to St. Mary's College of Maryland Saturday afternoon.

The visiting Seahawks struck early and maintained control for much of the match, while the Giants showed fight in the second half but couldn't complete the comeback.

St. Mary's opened the scoring in the 14th minute when Sam Santos converted a pass from Lucas Evans to make it, 1–0. The Seahawks doubled their advantage just after halftime as Santos tallied his second goal of the day in the 47th minute, assisted by Jack Nelson.

The Giants battled back late in the match, cutting the deficit to 2–1 in the 76th minute when Lenskey Raoul (Neptune Township, N.J./Neptune) netted his fifth goal of the season. The momentum was short-lived, however, as Nelson restored St. Mary's two-goal lead five minutes later with help from Santos and Zach Blaum.

St. Mary's outshot Keystone 28–6 and held an 8–3 edge in corner kicks. Keystone goalkeeper Kolten McVean (Dickinson, Tex./Dickinson) recorded 10 saves. One yellow card was issued.

Keystone (2-10-0, 0-4-0 United East) heads to the nation's capital to face Gallaudet University on Wednesday, Oct. 15 at 4 p.m.
