LA PLUME, Pa.- The Keystone College women's basketball team showed early grit but couldn't sustain it down the stretch, falling 57–39 to Penn State Harrisburg Saturday afternoon in the Gambal Athletic Center.
Krista Cortazar (Throop, Pa./Mid Valley) paced the Giants with 10 points, knocking down a pair of threes, while Phaneirra Barnett (Baltimore, Md./Edgewood) added seven points and seven rebounds. Hailee Hackett (Carmicahel, Calif./Rio Americano) and Angelise Sanchez (Atlanta, Ga./Ocoee) both scored five.
The Nittany Lions steadily pulled away behind the strong play of Mikayla Coleman, who led all scorers with 20 points on 9-of-16 shooting. Lauren Moffatt added a dominant double-double with 12 points and 14 rebounds, while Molli Hogbin contributed 14 points and several key baskets that helped Harrisburg separate in the later stages.
After trailing just 22–19 at halftime, the Giants were overpowered in the second half as the Nittany Lions' inside presence and fourth quarter surge put the game out of reach.
Keystone generated 20 points off turnovers and showed energy in transition, but cold shooting hindered any momentum. The Giants shot just 24.2 percent from the floor, including 5-of-25 from beyond the arc.
Penn State Harrisburg's efficiency showed in its 42 percent shooting from the field and its ability to convert miscues into 12 points off turnovers.
Keystone (1-9, 1-1 United East) travels to Pratt Institute next Saturday.
