LA PLUME, Pa.- No. 23 Keystone College baseball team saw its nine-game win streak end as they fell to Marywood University 10-4 in their home opener Tuesday afternoon at Christy Mathewson Field.
This is Marywood's first win over Keystone since March 2015, snapping a 10-game losing streak.
Andy Rivas (Bronx, N.Y./Academy for Language and Technology) led the Keystone offense with three hits and an RBI. Chase Boyle (Millsboro, Del./Sussex Central) added two hits this afternoon.
Nick Gravel (Sidney, N.Y./Sidney) got the start in the game and went four innings with five strikeouts. He gave up two earned runs off four hits. Fisher Sheffield (Clermont, Fla./Tohopekaliga), Julian Gonzalez (Bayonne, N.J./Bayonne), Noah Parks (Maple Valley, Wash./Tahoma), and Brandon Valles (Toms River, N.J./Toms River North) appeared in relief. Sheffield struck out three batters while Parks and Valles had one.
The Pacers took the opening lead in the top of the first with an RBI single by Tristan Gatchalain. Keystone tied the game in the second with an inside the park home run by Greg Verano (Raritan, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) and took the lead an inning later with an RBI single by Nate Ewing (Jersey Shore, Pa./Jersey Shore Area).
Marywood would gain significant momentum as they went on a 9-2 run for the rest of the contest, resulting in a Pacers victory. They added three runs in the seventh and ninth inning. Both teams had 11 hits in the contest.
The Ginats (11-3) heads to William Paterson tomorrow afternoon for a 3:30 p.m. matchup with the Pioneers.
