WAYNE, N.J.- The Keystone College baseball team suffered a rough 8-7 loss to William Paterson Wednesday afternoon.
Andy Rivas (Bronx, N.Y./Academy for Language and Technology) and Chase Boyle (Millsboro, Del./Sussex Central) went 3-for-4 with two RBI. Darren Hagan (Aston, Pa./Garnet Valley) had three hits this afternoon as well. Carlos Pascual (Paterson, N.J./International) and Greg Verano (Raritan, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) all had an RBI.
Sean Brennan (Hatfield, Pa./North Penn) got the start and tossed five scoreless innings with eight strikeouts and allowed one hit. Drew Sorrentino (Schnecksville, Pa./Parkland) pitched two innings and gave up four earned runs off four hits with three punchouts. Leam Powell (Phillipsport, N.Y./Chapel Field Christian) and Dylan Byler (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) also came in relief. Byler struck out two in the defeat.
The Giants started the game strong as they scored two runs in the second and third inning. They would add one run in the fourth and sixth off RBI hits by Rivas to go up 6-0. Â
The Pioneers were able to cut into their deficit with a four spot in the bottom of the seventh as they scored on a wild pitch followed by a three-run home run by Tom Radigan. Keystone added another run in the top of the eighth with an RBI double by Pascual.
In the bottom half of that inning, William Paterson's offense came alive as Eliot Germanson hit a single through the left side to score Ty Kobylakiewicz. A couple of batters later, Radigan would come to the dish and once again belted another three-run home run to give his squad the lead.
Keystone tried to rally in the ninth, but closer Nick Durso retired the side to give William Paterson the comeback win.
