LA PLUME, Pa.- The Keystone College baseball team got back in the win column as they earned a doubleheader split with Penn State Abington Saturday afternoon at Christy Mathewson Field. Abington won the first game 8-7, but Keystone took the second game, 11-4.
Game One: Penn State Abington 8, Keystone 7
Andy Rivas (Bronx, N.Y./Academy for Language and Technology) went 3-for-3 with three RBI. Carlos Pascual (Paterson, N.J./International) added two hits with a run batted in.
Quinn Holt (North Wales, Pa./North Penn) got the start and went 3.2 innings with two strikeouts. Dylan Byler (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) pitched an inning in relief and allowed two runs (one earned run) off three hits. Drew Sorrentino (Schnecksville, Pa./Parkland) and Anthony Mierez (Granby, Conn./Rockville) tossed an inning in relief and both recorded a strikeout.
The Nittany Lions added one run in the first two innings off RBI ground outs. Keystone was able to add two runs in the bottom of the third to tie the game. Abington took the lead back an inning later with a solo home run by Jake Fallers. The Giants regained the lead in the fifth with a sac fly by Rivas.
Abington added two runs in the six with a Garrett Garofalo single which scored Fallers and Garofalo would later score on an error. They added two more runs in the seventh as Fallers hit his second home run of the game. Keystone rallied as Jacob Yager (Grahamsville, N.Y./Tri-Valley) chipped in with a two RBI single
After the Nittany Lions added one run in the ninth to make it an 8-5 ball game, Rivas would smack a two-run home run over the left field wall to cut their deficit to one. However, the Nittany Lions were able to record the last few outs and steal game one from the Giants.
Game Two: Keystone 11, Penn State Abington 4
Nate Ewing (Jersey Shore, Pa./Jersey Shore Area) went 3-for-4 in the second game. Rivas and Hagan chipped in with two hits. Rivas had a game-high five RBI as he had a three-run home run and a two-RBI double. Both Pascual and Cooper Fesh (Bethel, Conn./Bethel)Â added two RBI the game two victory.Â
Leam Powell (Phillipsport, N.Y./Chapel Field Christian) got the starting nod in game two and the win as he went five innings and allowed six hits, one unearned run, and three strikeouts. Brandon Girod (Elgin, Tex./Elgin), Luke Baker (Schuylkill Haven, Pa./Blue Mountain), Chase Masterson (Marlboro, N.J./Colts Neck), Fisher Sheffield (Clermont, Fla./Tohopekaliga), Michael Lynch (Orangeburg, N.Y./Tappan Zee), and Julian Gonzalez (Bayonne, N.J./Bayonne) all appeared in relief.

The Ginats (12-5, 3-1 United East) will take the short trip to Dallas to face No. 16 and defending national champion Misericordia University on Monday, Mar. 31 at 3:30 p.m.
